In times of great peril and fear,
Peter was bound, yet God drew near.
An angel appeared bright,
Unlocked chains in the night,
And freed him from danger’s dark leer. -

The believers were filled with delight.
Tongues of all nations,

The Spirit laid bare,
And hearts filled with joy cast a spell. -

Who sought to replace the one leaven.
They chose Matthias to take his place,
And spread the good news with grace,
Their numbers were again even.
